The heat has arrived and I can’t even pretend that I like it 🙂 🙂 Heat itself is something I can take (with a lot of complaining of course 🙂 ) but when it also brings high humidity it’s just unbearable. That is how it was yesterday (and will most likely be today as well).
I looked at the real-time lightning map (click on the red text and a new page will open up with that site) and could see that a big thunder storm was coming closer. It was one of the laziest thunder storms I’ve seen in a long time 🙂 🙂 It stopped here and there and just bombarded some places with lightnings and it must have been a bit frightening to live at any of those places. I got a call from work since they went out of power and needed to know how to restart some of the things there when the power came back. It took hours before it reached us but we didn’t get much of either rain or lightning (the closest hit was down by the creek but several hit around the little lake in the bog). It did cool down though, from 30C to 19C (86F- 66F).
Even the bedroom was fairly cool so I was hoping a certain puppy would sleep all night 🙂 🙂 🙂 I woke up in the middle of night and heard her downstairs, she had ripped open the trash bag and spread it’s contents all over the bottom floor, the little gem 🙂 🙂 🙂 Well I was a bit loud when I told her that I was slightly disappointed with her behaviour so after that she slept all night right beside me 🙂 🙂 🙂 Just like she does right now , the breakfast and the walk seems to have tired her quite a lot, plus that it is getting hot again.
Her pointy, deadly sharp baby teeth are nasty. I have to say that Albin, a dog that wanted to kill her as soon as he saw her, has an amazing patience with her. His entire head is covered with puncture marks from her teeth. She has litterarely bitten through his skin and he just continues to play with her without getting angry. The only time he reacts is when she bites his paws or legs. When she does it does look like he’s about to rip her appart and the sound of his growel scares even me 🙂 🙂 🙂 He must be able to react and I can tell You she doesn’t even try to get close to bite him there again 🙂 🙂 🙂 Nova does play with her but has far less patience, after all she’s nearly fourteen years old by now.
Albin has started to behave more grown up now too. He can now be passed by a car without screaming hysterically for ten minutes after it has gone away. He almost made it this morning but failed horribly. I think it coulod have worked if it hadn’t been for ther jogger passing by 🙂 🙂 🙂 He really tried to stay calm but just couldn’t and suddenly he screamed like an obsessed pig 🙂 🙂 🙂 Naturally this was outside one of the houses 🙂 Have You tried to scold at Your dog but in a whispering way? It just doesn’t work 🙂 🙂 🙂
He had just calmed down when not one but two cars passed by. It was just too much for him 🙂 🙂 🙂 and since he started so did Alma. It took a while to calm them down but the rest of the walk was rather calm. Well that black little dog I’ve shown photos of her did bark quite a lot (and continued to do so for well over an hour. I think that if the owner is at home (and they were) they really should either try to make it stop barking or bring it in, people have vacation and might want to continue to sleep) but Albin didn’t even look at her. Alma doesn’t care if Albin doesn’t care and it takes a lot for Nova to react at all 🙂 🙂 🙂 The last time she did react was when five moose passed just in front of us last winter and the only thing she did was to walks a little bit in the same direction they had run 🙂 🙂
It was cool and foggy on our morning walk today by the way. I brought the mosqito hat since last time we walked through the village the flies were horrible. I could just have left it at home really because not a fly disturbed us today. I think they’ve started to cut down the high grass now, the big tractor passed my cottage yesterday and it did sound as if they kept on driving in the same field for quite some time until they changed places. With a bit of luck most of the flies will now have flown elsewhere. They will still be by the creek but the rest of the area might actually be fly free already today. It will however become so warm that I doubt we’ll take another walk today, it is better to slowly melt away here at home than to die from heat stroke in the sunshine 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
Hi Christer,
I guess it was a little foggy there this morning.
You con’t chastise dogs in a whisper. You have to hiss loudly like a snake. Preferably in German, if you have any, although it doesn’t seem to matter what you say. It’s the HOW you say it.
Today is finally sunny here and hot. 14 days of rain so far this month so it’s still humid out there. I haven’t had to water the grass seedlings at all and I can practically see them growing. They look about 4 inches tall and are not quite 10 days after sprouting. The expansive power of rainwater, I guess. 🙂
Enjoy the evening.

Hi Caryn!
Yes a little 🙂
I’ll try german the next time 🙂 🙂 It is easy to sound really angry using any german word to be honest, that and finnish 🙂 🙂 The problem is to actually reach him at all, he is so fixated with what ever it is he screams at so it is hard to even make him notice anything else.
I can imagine how much the grass seedlings loves that rainy weather 🙂
Over here it is hot again and despite all the rain that has been falling I now need to water pots again 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

So you got the same weather we have been having. Sorry about that. Does Alma get along with Teodor?

Hi librall!
Yes the heat just continues but I really can’t complain after I’ve read about what have happened in Belgium and Germany, seems like entire villages have been flushed away after all that rain.
She does get along very well with him. I guess it’s because she lived with all kinds of different animals where she was born. When she arrived here she had that nice smell of puppy and chicken poop 🙂 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.
